Borrowing a Page from Paul

 

My dear friends at Empire Grove, like Paul, I want to write you letters saying how much I thank God for you and that I always want you to remember how much God yearns for your trust in God’s love and goodness. As much as I am thrilled to have shared with you Paul’s good news about Jesus at this year;s Empire Grove Camp Meeting, I wanted to fill out some more details and connections that we can continue to pray with and explore.  I would like to tell the story of our week with Paul in a book, but I think it would be more manageable and useful to share it a little bit at a time in a daily blog, a format to which you can contribute with your responses, questions and  ideas.  On a blog, you can use the “comments”  function to say whatever you want.  If a stranger butts in and gets mean or ugly, I can eliminate their comments and block them, but I would never do that if anyone in the community wanted to disagree with me or add a different perspective.  I hope this can be a good long distance connection for us until I can drop in again for prayer, cribbage, or a delicious meal. The self-giving  love you share with one another transitions naturally into true hospitality. All of our ancestors in faith, beginning with Abraham, would surely feel proud and at home were they to visit the Grove. Alan Crowley
